Board Certified General Surgeon, Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery
Dr. Stewart is a Board Certified General Surgeon with additional training in Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, and Flexible Endoscopy. His main interests are in treating obesity and acid reflux. After earning a degree in chemistry at Brigham Young University, he studied medicine and completed General Surgery residency at the University of Toledo. He furthered his training at the Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery, completing a fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, and Flexible Endoscopy. As a native to the Seattle area, Dr. Stewart was happy to return home to the Pacific Northwest to join the Puget Sound Surgical Center team. Dr. Stewart offers a minimally invasive surgical solution to a wide range of problems, including obesity, acid reflux, benign and malignant colon disease, gall bladder disease, and complex stomach and esophageal disease. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, SAGES, and ASMBS.
Dr. Stewart is trained in the latest minimally invasive treatments for acid reflux/heart burn. His patient centered approach identifies the needs of every unique patient and tailors their therapy to those needs. By offering a full diagnostic workup in addition to a wide range of therapies, he will be able to understand and treat each patient’s specific disease process, from simple heart burn to large hiatal hernias to precancerous Barrett’s esophagus.
Working together with the expert staff at Puget Sound Surgical Center, he takes a team approach to the surgical treatment of obesity. Dr. Stewart understands that for his weight loss operation to be successful, nutritional, physical fitness, and psychological support are essential. With this approach, patients are more successful at losing weight, improving their health, lengthening their lives, and improving their quality of life.
Dr. Stewart is a married father of five. When not at work, he can usually be found with one or more of his children nearby. He also enjoys running, mountain biking, and Seattle sports.
