Other Sleep Diagnoses

Bruxism
Bruxism is one of the most common types of sleep disorders. About 40 million Americans are estimated to be suffering from varying degrees of Bruxism. If it is severe, Bruxism can lead to significant damage to the teeth. While sleeping, the brain may clinically enter Stage Wake as a result of Bruxism. This may occur hundreds of times during the night resulting in jaw pain, tooth damage, and Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS).

Narcolepsy
A sign of possible Narcolepsy is to doze off during unlikely occasions and at random times. Narcolepsy is thought to be caused by an emotion such as happiness, a specific smell, or being startled which may trigger immediate sleep. A person with Narcolepsy may go into REM/dream sleep directly as soon as they fall asleep which is abnormal sleep behavior. Eviva can diagnose and usually treat Narcolepsy.

Parasomnia
The temporary failure in regaining consciousness is called Parasomnia. It may also be referred to as Night Terrors. A sleeper with Parasomnia wakes up abruptly from his sleep (slow wave or Delta Sleep) with severe gasping, moaning or screaming.

Restless Legs Syndrome
Sleepers who suffer from Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) undergo a continual movement body parts in order to gain a relief from some uncomfortable sensations felt while sleeping. The feeling of crawling in the legs may disrupt or delay sleep initiation. Sleepers who experience Periodic Leg Movement or twitchy legs while sleeping may also suffer from daytime fatigue or EDS.
